Aerolineas Argentinas is a government owned airline and the largest and most important airline in Argentina. The airline is the only one in Latin America to provide service to New Zealand and Australia. In 1949 the Argentinian government merged all 4 national air carriers, creating Aerolineas Argentinas. Flight plans were combined and soon commercial flights were offered to international destinations. This merger also helped improve their domestic flight routes as well. During the 1990s, Aerolineas was partially privately owned, but in 2008 the government regained complete ownership of the company. Most of the destinations offered are domestic flights, however they offer numerous intercontinental routes as well including Europe, North America and Australia. Starting in 2009, the air carrier also began to offer service to new destinations in Paris and London. Aerolineas Argentinas' frequent flyer program is called Aerlineas Plus.

Environmental impact of Aerolineas Argentinas

Aerolineas Argentinas founded in 1950 is a leading South American airline with a fleet of 57 aircraft. It is a member of the SkyTeam global alliance. Aerolineas Argentinas is carrying out an ambitious fleet renewal. It strives for efficient and transparent passenger management. Constant upgradation towards more efficient fleet results in lower CO2 emissions. This results in lower carbon footprint lending the airline high eco-efficiency status. Efficient fleet management helps in reduction of fuel consumption thus suppressing the impact on the environment. Aerolineas Argentinas has retired long serving aircraft like the MD-80 and Boeing 747 solely with a view to promote energy efficient operations.

Streamlining and modernization of existing fleet

Aerolineas Argentinas has been following a vision of replacing older inefficient MD-80 and 747 with smaller more efficient Embraer 190 jets. This significantly lowers the carbon footprint of the airline as it cuts down on CO2 emissions and fossil fuel requirements. This leads to a favourable impact on the environment as it reduces the carbon footprint of the airline. Quick and easy travel promoted through efficient logistics also help reduce the burden of aircraft emissions into the environment. Newer Embraer jets having good range with optimum seating capacity is the ideal choice for Argentinian air routes.

Smaller aircraft for shorter distances

Atmosfair, the German NGO which ranks airlines based on lower carbon footprint has given Aerolineas Argentinas overall energy efficiency class E with a score of 46.4 in 2012. Lower carbon footprints promote sustainable development of aviation. Energy resources management through use of efficient aircraft on well planned routes lowers impact on the environment. The airline commands a domestic market share of about 80 percent in Argentina. Being a SkyTeam alliance member, Aerolineas Argentinas strives to minimize waiting time at every step of the journey through the airport for offering passengers a quick and easy travel experience.
