Flights to Berlin (DE)

Come visit the cultural heart of Germany in celebrated Berlin! Berlin is the largest city in Germany and has been capital since 1991. Tegel and Schoenefeld International Airports offer regular service to major North American destinations and connections all over Europe. Upon arriving, immerse yourself in history and culture, as this city was famously divided between the two German countries between 1949 and 1989. After the fall of the (in)famous Berlin Wall, the city was reunited and has since been known as the unofficial cultural capital of Europe. The city is blessed with numerous museums, theaters and various architecture such as the Brandenburger Tor and the TV Tower that make this city so unique. Naturally the city also offers world class accommodations, fine dining and a vibrant nightlife to entertain its guests. For those wishing to learn about Germany's recent history and experience one of the most diverse cultures in Europe, Berlin is the perfect destination.

Germany is located at the heart of Europe and, in many ways, is the centre of European culture and politics. With some of the largest and most influential cities in Europe, it's no surprise that Germany is so commonly visited. The country has a diverse landscape, from coastal areas along the North and Baltic Seas, to flatlands throughout the mainland and the Bavarian Alps in the south, the landscape is as varied as the people. Of course, no trip to Germany is complete without sampling the beer and food, so be sure to stop at one of the many pubs and restaurants. For beauty and culture, visit unique Germany.

Average high temperatures hit around the low to mid twenties Celsius in summer and the days are often clear and bright, making this an ideal time to visit Berlin. In the winter, average low temperatures can drop to minus 3 degrees Celsius, but snow and crisp, clear skies can make for a superb winter break. Spring and autumn can both be mild or cool.

Friedrichstrasse is one of the main shopping streets in central Berlin, and is home to a huge array of stores, from fashion and interior design to electronics, pharmacies and jewellers. Another iconic shopping landmark is the sweeping avenue of Kurfürstendamm, which is especially notable for its fashion boutiques. Berlin is known for its offbeat eclecticism, and a number of shops sum this up impressively, such as Wood Wood, Andreas Murkudis, Darklands and Happy Shop.

The restaurant scene in Berlin is refreshing and innovative, with multicultural and international gourmet cuisine alongside traditional fare. The city’s cuisine embraces meat and heavy, hearty dishes, such as eisbein, braised knuckle of pork with sauerkraut, boulette, fried meatballs with pickled eggs and gherkins, rouladen, cooked bacon in beef slices, and currywurst, a takeaway snack of sliced pork sausage with curry powder and ketchup. Top budget eateries include Curry 36 and Burgermeister. The city also boasts some superb high end restaurants, such as Michelin starred Reinstoff and Facil.

Berlin is renowned for its nightlife, arguably the best in Europe, and in particular its techno scene. Iconic nightclubs include the sprawling and immensely popular Berghain, a converted power station and now a vast space for clubbers, and Weekend, housed in an old Soviet tower block. Other top clubs include Watergate, a more upmarket haunt overlooking the River Spree and Cookies, a smart club offering dance music from house and disco to hip hop and indie. For after hours, canal side and open air Club der Visionäre is the place to head.
