Dubai’s weather is hot and dry, with average highs above 40 degrees centigrade in July and August. Due to the heat, December through March is the best time to visit the region as high temperatures are typically below 30 degrees. That being said, most of the city’s attractions are indoors, within well air-conditioned buildings which allow visitors to escape the heat.

Dubai is a dream destination for shoppers. The Dubai Mall is an amazing shopping centre that not also features luxury brands, but an aquarium and even an indoor ski slope. The mall hosts a shopping festival from January - February of each year, which attracts visitors from all over the world. Dubai’s old town also features a wide selection of traditional souks, include a glittering gold souk, perfume souk and textile souk. These are the best places for visitors to pick up local artisan handiwork and souvenirs.

Dubai’s native cuisine closely resembles that of dishes found around the rest of the Arabian Peninsula. The extravagant stuffed camel is perhaps the region’s most famous dish and consists of eggs stuffed in fish, which are in turn stuffed into chickens. Chickens are then stuffed into a lamb which is stuffed into a whole camel. For dishes that are a little on the smaller side, try local favourites like falafels or shawarma, the latter of which features freshly-baked arabic bread.

Dubai offers some of the world’s most luxurious nightlife experiences with its countless sky-high bars and sumptuous lounges. Most preferred night time locations are either downtown, or in one of the city’s hotels and resorts. Located along the beach as a part of the Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Barasti is the city’s most popular bar which offers a full selection of drinks along with dancing on the beach well into the night. Favourite haunts in downtown Dubai include the Cavalli Club and At.mosphere Lounge, the world’s highest lounge.
