The German airline LTU was for a long time among the largest airline companies in Germany. It has been a complete affiliate of Air Berlin since 2007, which announced that the trademark LTU will cease to be used. Today, LTU performs only international long range flights under the Air Berlin banner, with all the destination are outside Europe. The airline roots back to 1955, when Kurt Conle founded the Lufttransport-Union. The first LTU flight went to Sicilia one year later. At that time several hundred passengers were transported per year. In the 60s the idea of an integrated touristic corporation came up, following which LTU began offering a full range of tourist services in 1964.

LTU International Airways Topbonus Frequent Flyer Program

LTU Redpoints - The previous program for frequent flyers

Up until 2007 LTU had its own frequent flyer program, LTU Redpoints, that allowed travelers to earn a certain number of miles on every flight, completely independently of price or distance. When LTU switched to the existing Topbonus program in 2007, this all changed. The result was a standardized frequent flyer program for airberlin, NIKI, LTU, Belair, and LGW-Walter.

The System

Unlike the LTU Redpoints, with the new program LTU issues miles depending on the distance and the booking class. According to this, miles according to flat rates are no longer available. Miles or bonuses can also be collected with partners
