Flights to Las Vegas, Nevada (NV)

Glittering city lights and "Sin City" are words that come immediately to mind when one thinks about Las Vegas. The famous desert city can't be measured by normal standards and one must simply visit the city to understand this concept. Las Vegas has also been coined as "The Capital of Entertainment" and there are few who would debate this claim. The Mirage, Bellagio and Treasure Island hotels are known world wide and their reputations are well deserved. Of course it always helps to have a bit of luck on your side in the Casinos, but it won't be needed to enjoy your stay in Las Vegas. Many entertainers visit Las Vegas regularly - Siegfried and Roy and David Copperfield perform at many of Las Vegas' venues, while Elton John and Celine Dion have been resident performers and there are always stars and VIPs to be seen wandering the streets. Indeed, Las Vegas has become something of a myth in the last 50 years, but don't let its reputation precede it, come and experience Las Vegas yourself!

Nevada is the 7th largest state in the union by land size and is located in the Southwest. The capital is Carson City, but its largest and most well known cities are Reno and Las Vegas. The state's geography is generally covered by the Mojave Desert in the south and the Great Basis in the north. The climate is mostly arid and warm, with areas in higher elevations receiving snow in the winter. The state is a popular tourist destination due to Las Vegas and Reno, but the state also has numerous state parks and ski resorts as well.

Las Vegas is located in the Mojave Desert, so visitors at all times of the year can generally expect warm and sunny days, with mid summer temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and winter temperatures reaching a comfortable 15 degrees. Of course, the city is vulnerable to desert storms, and when it rains, it pours! Fortunately, bad weather is rare, and typically comes and goes very quickly. The different seasons are displayed at the Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio Resort.

The Fashion Show Mall, located on central Las Vegas Boulevard, is an ideal place for browsing some of the most well known American brands, but for something more unique, travellers should head to Fremont Street, the old Vegas part of town. Gifts and souvenirs can be picked up from the Indian Arts & Crafts Store, a nod to the city's Native American origins. Casino-branded merchandise can be purchased from any hotel gift shop.

Las Vegas is hugely multicultural and this is reflected through the variety of foods on offer. Ranging from typical American cuisine at Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs at the New York Hotel & Casino to fresh sushi at Sushi Roku at the Caesar's Palace Forum Shops, the city is also considered to be the buffet capital of the United States. Travellers will find celebrity chefs around every corner, and can also partake in some ultimate food challenges.

The Las Vegas nightlife is legendary and the city has become a top party destination for the rich, the famous and the Hollywood elite. Heading just off the strip, visitors can enjoy a beer or two with the locals at the Double Down Saloon which prides itself on being the birthplace of the Bacon Martini. On the other end of the scale are the casino-based clubs, such as Tao at the Venetian, one of the most popular celebrity hangouts.
