Baggage regulations for flights with Martinair

Special luggage items

Pets can be carried either in the cabin or in the baggage compartment for a reasonable fee, if it is arranged in advance. Surf boards, scuba tanks, antlers and bicycles can also be transported for a fee. Most sports equipment counts as extra baggage, and can be transported at the same cost as other bags that meet basic requirements: less than 300cm in the sum of dimensions, and less than 32kg in weight.

Checked luggage

Passengers? luggage allowance on KLM's flights is always stated on their tickets. In general, economy class customers are allowed one piece of baggage each, with a maximum weight of 23kg. Business class customers are allowed two pieces of baggage, with a maximum weight of 32kg each. All pieces of baggage must have a sum of less than 158cm for length, width and height. Some flights allow two pieces of economy class baggage, and a discount on extra bags may be available for customers who make arrangements in advance.

Hand luggage

Because of limited space in the overhead bins, KLM does not allow baggage in the passenger compartment. Passengers are limited to one bag of 55cm in length, 25cm in width, and 35cm in height, maximum. It must weigh less than 12kg. Examples include purses, briefcases, cameras, small laptops, or small daypacks. Liquids are restricted, and sealed duty-free items are allowed.
Martinair is based in Amsterdam. From 1958 until 2011, it provided both freight and passenger service. In 2008, Martinair was purchased by KLM, and in November, 2011, it ceased operations as a passenger carrier. Martinair planes are now freight only. However, their passenger services have been continued by KLM.
