Virgin America began service in 2007 as a subsidiary of the British airline Virgin Atlantic. The airline was founded in 2004, however legal problems delayed the commencement of operations by almost 3 years. The carrier offers high quality service between the major US seaboards from the primary hub of San Francisco International Airport. The company maintains a headquarters in California, although the Virgin name is leased to them by the British company. While Virgin America is separate from the other Virgin brands for legal reasons , there are partnerships in place to benefit customers. Although plans are in place to expand to Toronto, there are currently no international destinations offered. Virgin America supports flights between major US destinations with a focus on professionalism and passenger comfort. In 2008, Virgin America became the first airline in the world to offer Wi-Fi internet aboard their flights.
