Cheap flights to Chandigarh Airport (IXC)
Posted on: August 12th, 2008 by adminChandigarh Airport is undergoing massive construction work in order to upgrade it to international status, but it is still fully operational. The airport is located 12kms from the centre of Chandigarh. The IATA code is IXC and the ICAO code is VICG.
For the present time, most of the flights from Chandigarh Airport are domestic, however, once the renovation upgrades are completed, the airport will start serving international flights to various destinations around the world. New terminals are being added, along with the latest facilities, to give passengers a better flying experience. New airlines will fly to and from Chandigarh as it is expected that the passenger traffic will increase dramatically. This will also help to improve the economy of Chandigarh, which is recognised as the youngest city in India and the surrounding areas.
For the moment, Chandigarh Airport has only basic facilities, which include the information desk, car parks, food and beverage outlets and others. It also has a business centre to cater to the needs of business travellers.
In order to travel between central Chandigarh and the airport, you can either take a bus or taxi. The public bus service also operates between destinations further away, including Panchikula and Mohali. Taking a taxi is more convenient and comfortable, though it is much more costly, especially if you are travelling longer distances.
Chandigarh Airport does not have it’s own website, so you must either contact the airline direct for arrival and departure information. Alternatively you can go to one of the many websites that provide this information.
There are several hotels close to the airport, including the Marc Royale, the Solitaire and the Regency.
