The Durban terminal building has been recently upgraded with the redesign of the domestic and international terminals into the arrivals and departures terminal. The parking has also been upgraded. It supports a number of international airlines. Though the airport does cater for regional, international, domestic and also charter flights, there are few intercontinental flights that travel direct to and from Durban airport.
For the convenience of travellers there is an information desk. Travellers will also find a Teleguide hotel information board and a Mr. Info touch screen for information; both located in the arrivals area. Additionally there is a tourism information office in the domestic arrivals area.
There are a variety of restaurants available including a steak house and pizzerias. There is a coffee shop and a few bars. The airport offers numerous shops including a duty free shop, luggage, a florist and sports shops. For banking needs there are ATMs located on the ground floor of the arrivals area. For a currency exchange desk look on the ground floor in the international departures and arrivals terminal. The terminal building also offers a post office. The tourism information concourse offers Fax and Internet at the arrivals terminal. There are also Internet facilities available in the public concourse.
There are coach and shuttle services that operate regularly between the airport, the city and the popular beachfront hotels. Taxis are available for runs between the airport and the city centre. Car rental agencies include Avis, Budget, Imperial, Hertz, Europcar, Khaya, National, Sixt and Thrifty. Parking is available in both open air and shaded areas. Trolleys run from the parking areas though it is within walking distance.
There is an airport shuttle service that runs to Durban that is operated by Super Shuttle and Coastal Motor Transport. Cheetah Coaches operates a service to Pietermaritzburg. The airport shuttles leave from the front of the departures terminal. The recommendation is for visitors to use either taxis or a hotel shuttle.
