Faro Airport is located in the south of Portugal and serves travellers to the Algarve region of the country. The correct name of the airport is the Aeroporto Internacional de Faro, IATA code FAO. This is a busy international airport, which serves a large number of international carriers and that is second only, in terms of passenger numbers, to Lisbon International Airport
The airport has one terminal for all arriving and departing flights. The facilities you can find in this terminal include information services, lost and found, pharmacy, post office and massage services, among many others typically found in international airports. There is also a currency exchange booth, ATM machines and vending machines. If you become hungry while waiting for your flight, there are restaurants, coffee shops and snack bars offering a range of refreshments. For those who find themselves bored while waiting for their flights, there are several stores you can check out, including bookshops, souvenir shops, accessory and fashion outlets, as well as alcohol and tobacco shops.
There is easy road access and plenty of parking spaces available in three areas. There are car parks for short and long stays, which are located near the arrival and departure hall. You can also use public transport, including taxis, buses and rail. A number of major car rental companies have offices at the terminal.

The airport does not have any hotels on site, but there is a range of accommodation available in Faro, which is only around fifteen minutes away by road.
