Frankfurt International Airport (airport code: FRA) is the largest airport in Germany. It is found near the city of Frankfurt am Main. The airport receives over 52 million people every year.
There are a lot of amenities and services available in the airport. Wireless internet can be accessed throughout the terminals. There is a casino, salon, chapel, children’s play area, baby care rooms, showers, and an airport hospital. There are also a number of ATMs, restaurants, and shops in the place. A conference center and meeting rooms are available for business meetings.
The airport has two multi-level terminals that are being used by over 100 airlines. Terminal 1 has five levels. Sheraton Hotel is found on the first level, as are the security checkpoints, baggage claim area, and the railway system. Ticket counters are located on the second level, while three concourses are found on the third and fourth levels. Terminal 2 has only two levels. The ticket counters, baggage claim areas, and security checkpoints are on the first level while two concourses are on the second level.
Frankfurt International Airport offers long-term parking, with the parking lot found just beside Terminals 1 and 2. After leaving their cars, guests can easily walk to the terminal. The airport also provides discount parking just a short distance from the terminal buildings. In addition, hotel parking is available. If a passenger is handicapped, his or her driver can park the car free of charge in designated areas in front of the terminal building.
For transportation from the airport, you can avail of car rental services, airport shuttles, limousine services, and taxis. For directions to the airport, take highway A5 toward Frankfurt if you are coming from the North. Then before reaching the Frankfurter Kreuz junction, follow the ‘Flughafen’ signs. If you are coming from the South, take highway A67, then go to A5, and follow the signs. If you are coming from the West, take highway A3, drive toward the Wiesbadener Kreuz junction, enter A66, then follow the ‘Flughafen’ signs. If you are coming from the East, take highway A3, and after passing Frankfurter Kreuz junction, follow the signs to the airport.
