The airport is located on Karmøy Island, 14 kilometres from Haugesund city centre south of Bergen. The Island lies in the North Sea off the southwest coast of the country. The airport handles both domestic and international flights. Local flight destinations include Bergen, Oslo and Sandefjord. International flights include a daily flight destined for London and one to Antalya in Turkey. The airport handles well over half a million travellers annually. Some of the airlines running flights from Haugesund include SAS-Scandinavian, SAS Braathens and Coast Air AS. The airport has only one terminal. The only eatery within the airport’s terminal is known as the Café Slid of Jazz. The café menu consists of light meals, salads and snacks. Beverages include coffee as well as a wide range of alcoholic drinks. Other amenities available throughout the airport’s terminal include wireless Internet access, news stands, telephone booths, washrooms and flight display monitors.
