You get there by simply following the E18 highway from the city centre. There are signs indicating which directions to follow once you are within the airport’s grounds. Kristiansand Airport or ‘Kjevik’ as it is fondly referred to by the locals, is situated on the northeastern side of the city of Kristiansand. It is a fairly small airport operated by Avinor Travellers. The airport has only one runway which handles both cargo and passenger flights. Cargo planes make up approximately 50% of the airport’s business. The airport caters for domestic as well as international flights. The international flights are limited to Europe. You can catch direct flights to other major European cities including Amsterdam, London, Copenhagen, Bergen, Alicante and Stavanger. Some of the airlines which operate from Kristiansand airport include the Norwegian National Carrier SAS, which runs flights from Kristiansand to other major cities in Norway; the royal Dutch Carrier KLM which offers direct flights from Kristiansand to Amsterdam and a Norwegian discount airline which runs flights from the airport to Oslo. Passenger facilities in the terminal include a restaurant and a duty free shop. The duty free shop sells items such as tobacco, perfumes and liquor. From the arrival terminal, passengers can either choose to take a taxi or wait for the hourly bus to take them to Kristiansand. Taxis usually charge a fixed price of about $25.
