Poprad-Tatry boasts the highest elevation of any airport in all of Central Europe. It is at 718 m or 2356 ft above sea level. That is approximately 150 m higher than the next highest. Even considering that fact there are neither special procedures nor crew qualifications. This is because the Poprad valley is wide and allows a straight approach in the runway direction. The airport is located in the Slovak ski resort town of Poprad.

It serves scheduled flights as well as charter airline operations. Poprad-Tatry also serves as a search and rescue and hospital air services and it handles general aviation as well. It also serves sport airplanes, foreign and domestic aearoclubs, test and demonstration flights, sightseeing flights and cargo flights. This airport also serves the Polish town of Zakopane.

There are two check-in desks, three gates and one baggage claim belt to accommodate approximately 200,000 travellers per year.

The airport offers a snack bar. Tourist information is available at the airport. Travellers will also find a souvenir shop and a currency exchange facilities available. They are open during regular and charter flight arrival and departures.

There are car rental agencies available with limited parking spaces. Hotels are available in the city of Poprad is just five kilometres from the airport.
