Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, which serves Istanbul, was named after the first Turkish woman ever to fly a military aircraft.
The reason for constructing this airport was to ease congestion at Ataturk International Airport, following a rapid increase in air traffic there.
Every year the airport handles around 3.5million passengers, of which 3million are international and the remainder domestic.
