The airport is also known as Koltsovo Airport of Ekaterinburg. It is called the gateway to Ural. The location of Ekaterinburg added to the its status as the capital of the Sverdlovsk Oblast (province) and the Ural Federal Region makes Koltsovo Airport a significant part of the Russian air transport system

There are 19 check-in desks and 10 gates to accommodate some 750,000 travellers per year. The airport also has two air bridges and five baggage claims belts. The main terminal has a small information desk. There are two terminals that are within walking distance of each other.

The airport has a café, restaurants, cafeterias and bars. There are several shops found in the terminal area including duty free shops. A newspaper and tobacco shop and chemist shop are also available. Travellers will find a tourist help desk, travel agent and a baby parent room for visitors with young children. Disabled access and facilities are available. There is also a VIP lounge and business centre at the airport.

Other facilities at the airport include two Bureaux de Change, a post office, a bank and telephones. There is one airport hotel located right next to the airport. The Liner Hotel offers a wide range of accommodations from economy rooms that have four beds to two room luxury suites to satisfy all travellers.

There are plenty of parking spaces. Some of the parking areas are free and other charge a fee for parking. There are no international car rental agencies represented in Irkutsk. There are a few local agencies available for those that require a rental car.
