At Hobart airport there were two terminals, which were recently united into one building, following a major renovation that began in 2006 and was completed the next year at a cost of $15 million.

Directions

The airport is actually located in the city of Cambridge, Tasmania on a narrow peninsula along the eastern shore of the Derwent River. Hobart International Airport can be reached by way of Tasman Highway to Holyman Avenue. It is a fifteen-minute drive from the central business district.

Parking

There is a very large, sizable parking area that is in front of the newly refurbished terminal running (northeast to southwest) nearly the entire length of it. Under-cover valet parking is also available. Parking is possible on both a short-term and long-term basis. The valet car parking features both covered and outdoor parking facilities.

Transport to and from Parking Areas

There is no transport to and from the parking areas to the terminal. This is probably due to the proximity of the parking facility to the terminal the newly renovated terminal.

Accommodation

The closest lodging is the Worldmark Seven Mile Beach Hotel, One and a half miles from the airport. The Comfort Inn Prospect House is the next closest lodging facility at just over eight miles from the airport. A major developer is currently trying to get permission and construction permits to build a resort on the grounds.

Facilities

The airport offers all the modern amenities and conveniences to the traveler such as:

• ATMs
• Azure Wireless & Telstra Hotspot wireless Internet
• Café and bar
• Public telephones
• Spacious lounge areas

These are just a few. You can see an extended list of facilities by visiting the airport website listed above.
