Modernizing the terminal is a joint project of the people and the Airport Authority to improve the local air quality and air services at the airport. The new terminal is due to open in June 2008. Security at the airport is the responsibility of the Canadian Commissionaires Corps who patrol the terminal and airport grounds around the clock. When needed they seek backup assistance from the Quebec City police. The airport has firefighters and first responders always in the airport.

The international and domestic halls include retail shops, restaurants, a convenience store, gift shops, currency exchange desk and a Duty Free shop. In addition, there are ATM machines and a Royal Bank of Canada. There are highly trained ‘sniffer’ dogs searching for drugs, narcotics, banned food products, firearms and other prohibited items.

Ground transportation is available by taxis and limousines. There are no car rental agencies in the airport so make arrangements in advance with one of the companies. There are three areas for parking at the airport with a fee of $1.75 for 30 minutes up to a maximum $12 a day with weekly parking for $84. Taxes are included in the parking fees.

As one would expect there is plenty of accommodation of all kinds available in the area. Make enquiries at the airport information desk if you have not made previous arrangements. About 9 miles from the airport is the excellent Quality Suites Quebec Hotel which has all the facilities one might need.
