Lihue airport located on the southeast coast of Kauai Island is about one and a half miles east of the Lihue. The airport has two runways and a terminal providing domestic, inter-island, flights, air taxi and air cargo services, as well as general service flights. A heliport is one of the services at Lihue airport. This airport offers services and amenities similar to those provided by other small airports in Hawaii.

The airport has a surface parking lot in front of the airport terminal off Mokulele Loop, which encircles the parking lot. The first thirty minutes is free and the fee is $1 per thirty minutes up to a maximum of $7 for the day. The monthly rate for long-term parking is $70.

Transport options include rental cars from seven different rental agencies, (the rental offices are across the street from the airport terminal). Passengers can reserve a car in advance online from agencies including Avis, Alamo, Dollar and Budget. Taxi rates are high and often pre-set for destinations. Renting a car could be less expensive.

Airport shuttles and buses are available. Check with the airport information desk for information and prices. Door-to-door shuttles are available but if it is one, which picks up passengers until the van is full, you could miss your flight. Check with driver before using these shuttles.
