The airport is 10km from downtown St. John’s Airport, a 15 minute ride. The airport is very close to the Trans-Canada Highway located west of Torbay Highway. New food and beverage services include a Tom Horton’s restaurant. There is free internet access at kiosks on the first floor of the departures lounge. Additional retail services; televisions in the departures lounge and self-serve check-in kiosks, new bank machines and children’s play areas are all available. In addition; an elevator, a deaf person’s relay service and car rental booths are in the new terminal.

Three parking areas provide 850 parking spaces for short-term, long-term and ‘Gold Pass’ parking. The short-term parking provides for up to two hours and the long term tariff includes a full day, week, month, or longer. ‘Gold Pass’ parking, for frequent flyers, lets them simply park and swipe their card. Parking rates are similar to those in other Canadian airports. The ‘Gold Pass’ fee is $59 a month with a six-month contract.

The pre-board screening and carry on luggage regulations are strict; articles not permitted are confiscated. If you are not certain, go to http://www.catsa.gc.ca or call 1-888-294-2202 to clarify the restrictions on luggage contents.

Ground transportation is by taxis and buses to downtown St. John’s or the local hotels. The Airport Plaza Hotel is the closest hotel. A taxi to the Hotel St. John’s in the city centre will cost $27.50.

Rental cars from Hertz, Enterprise, Avis and others are available via the counters in the airport terminal.
