11th Dubai Air Show underway
Posted on: November 17th, 2009 by Beth WilliamsThe 11th Dubai Air Show began on Sunday with delegates from around the world amid mutual regional and international interests providing drive for the show.
The world famous air show, running from November 15 to 19 at Airport Expo, is the foremost aerospace event in the Middle East and the fastest growing air show in the world. The event claims to provide more exhibition space, showcase innovative and technically advanced aircraft and equipment and systems from the world’s leading players in the aviation industry.
Those attending the event include 37 high-profile military delegations from 40 countries, including 18 defense ministers, 11 chiefs and 19 commanders of air forces are expected to attend the five-day event, in which 890 exhibitors from 47 countries would be showcasing the latest technology, totaling 130 aircraft, including 14 for air demonstrations.
Some of the military force featured at this year’s Dubai Air Show includes the F-22 Raptor, which combines the expertise of Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney as well as the US Air Force.
The exhibition hall also features an impressive mock A350 XWB cabin, in which the visitors can watch presentation, and a mock of the Eurocopter‘s 16-seat civilian helicopter, the EC175.
With aircraft manufacturer Airbus predicting that the international air passenger traffic in the Middle-East will grow at a rate of 6.6 per cent over the next ten years, the region has become the fastest-growing in commercial aviation.
