Aer Lingus has announced that it is expanding the number of destinations served from its Gatwick Airport hub this winter.

The Dublin-based airline will operate services to six new destinations, increasing the number of routes on its network to 13. Flights to Nice will not be operated during the winter, but the carrier will add service to Vilnius from 10 September and to Bucharest, Eindhoven, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Warsaw from 25 October.

These are in addition to the routes Aer Lingus will continue to serve – connecting Gatwick with Dublin, Faro, Knock, Malaga, Munich, Vienna and Zurich.

Each week, the airline will operate 118 return trips from Gatwick, when the new services are launched.

One way fares to Eindhoven start from £24.99, and rise to £29.99 to Warsaw and £49.99 to the other new destinations, inclusive of taxes and charges. Tickets go on sale 9 June.

Enda Corneille, the corporate affairs director at Aer Lingus, said: “Since our first launch back in April, we have sold over 400,000 flights and counting. To give our customers a greater choice in destinations, we’ve introduced six new routes which are popular to travellers during the winter months – perfect for anyone looking to escape the British winter.”

He went on to say: “We are still competitively priced, as well as making life a little easier for customers with free allocated seating, self service check-in kiosks, web check-in and onboard service that puts our competitors to shame.”
