In order to encourage early bookings for the 2009 summer season, Argo and Libra Holidays are offering an incentive of waived fuel surcharges.

These Allbury Travel operators are claiming that customers will save as much as £110 per couple if they book next year’s holiday by 31 October.

The special offer covers holidays that are scheduled during 1 January and 31 October 2009, but excludes the periods of 9-15 February and 29 March-12 April.

Steve Heapy, the product and operations director for the group said: “The recent launch of our new edition brochures has stimulated the market and resulted in a healthy number of sales for the winter season as well as early bookings for next summer”.

He added: “As an additional motivation, we have removed the fuel surcharge to stimulate the market further and offer an incentive to book now and save the pennies, a key bonus during the credit crunch”.

The travel exec noted that the increase in bookings is most likely also related to the public’s awareness of the safety involved in booking with an ATOL-bonded travel operator. He stressed that all of Allbury Travel’s brands are ATOL-protected and that their agents are ABTA members, ensuring customers that their holidays are protected.
