No more free drinks for economy Finnair passengers
Posted on: November 30th, 2009 by Andrew RobertsPassengers who like to fly with European airline Finnair will find that as of January 12 next year the free alcoholic drinks that they may have enjoyed while traveling Economy Class are no longer available.
Passengers in Economy Class will soon be charged 5 Euros for a glass of wine, while beer will cost 4 Euros. However, interestingly enough, this only applies to Economy Passengers on Finnair’s European flights. Passengers traveling Economy Class on intercontinental flights will still be able to enjoy wine and beer is free of charge, while sparkling wine and stronger alcohol will cost around 5 Euros.
The good news for those who shell out extra for Business Class tickets when flying through Europe is that they will still be treated to free drinks, allowing them to sip and slurp their way through the wine list and enjoy a range of other alcoholic beverages completely free of charge.
Alcoholic drinks can be purchased on European flights from 10 o’clock onwards, with the exception of routes to and from Riga, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Tallinn and Vilnius.
On January 12, Finnair will also allow passengers to order cosmetics, jewellery, sweets and other presents using Finnair’s pre-order selection. This service will be available on nearly all European flights to and from Helsinki, with the exception of flights to and from Riga, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Tallinn and Vilnius.
At the current time, pre-orders can only be made for the flight towards Helsinki from 23 European cities. Although the minimum pre-order price is 30 Euros, Finnair passengers will be treated to a 10% discount for any orders made online. In addition, Finnair Plus members will also earn Plus points for their purchases.
