RwandAir, the new name for Rwandair Express, has a new tag line to go along with its new name: “Fly our dream to the Heart of Africa”.
In addition to the airline’s new marketing, it is also increasing the number of daily services between its base at Kigali and Johannesburg. The new services are on top of the current twice-daily Nairobi flights and the Entebbe services that operate three times each day.
The carrier recently signed a code share agreement with Brussels Airlines that applies to direct flights operated between Brussels and Kigali; and RwandAir has also announced that it has appointed Flight Directors as their general sales agent in the UK.
Michael Otieno, the airline’s head of marketing and corporate communications, commented: “We want to position our airline as a leading carrier in the region while at the same time aggressively market our product overseas. Worldwide today, there is massive excitement about Rwanda as a country and a destination. As the national carrier, we cannot afford to be left out of it!!”
Vikki Joyce, the head of sales at Flight Directors, said: “I have just returned from the world famous ‘Kwita Izina – Gorilla Naming Ceremony’ which is a huge annual international celebration of the birth of baby wild gorillas, which was unique and absolutely charming. Rwanda was everything I had hoped for with wonderful, friendly people, stunning scenery, amazing wild-life all within a safe environment, but tinged with a taste of the real Africa.”
