Freezing weather cancels flights and closes airports
Travellers across the UK are facing cancelled flights and rail services, and dangerous roads when temperatures plummeted last night.
The Met Office has a current severe weather warning of widespread ice for most parts of the UK, and advised against travel if possible or taking extra care.

Sale of Gatwick Airport formalised
The sale of London’s Gatwick Airport to a consortium led by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) was formally completed last Friday.
GIP, which owns a 75 per cent share in London City Airport, paid BAA £1.51 billion for the UK’s second largest airport.

British Airways launches non-stop route to Las Vegas
British Airways has announced that it will be opening a new daily, non-stop route connecting Heathrow Airport to Las Vegas. The new service is expected to begin on October 25. Prices for the flights will depend on the day of travel, and begin at around £550 for a round-trip fare.

UK airport strikes threaten bank holiday travel
Gatwick and Stansted airport baggage handlers have voted to support an industrial action involving a dispute over pay.
They have joined Manchester airport workers, who previously voted in favour of a strike over the August bank holiday weekend.

EasyJet showing profits despite recession

Gatwick closed after emergency Flybe landing
The UK airport busiest with holiday flights closed on Friday after a passenger jet was diverted to the airport and forced to make an emergency landing.
A Flybe flight on route to Cardiff, carrying 46 passengers on board a Dash 8 aircraft, had to make an emergency landing at Gatwick airport.

Virgin to introduce Puerto Rico service from Gatwick
