Airlines respond to US criticism of tie-up
US carrier American Airlines has responded to a report from the US Department of Justice report which claims the tie-up with British Airways and Iberia could cause competitive harm.
The Justice Department claimed fares between six transatlantic routes could increase by up to 15 per cent under the proposed agreements.

Passengers now able to check in at Paddington station
Heathrow Express has today announced the launch of new automated check-in services for air passengers at London’s Paddington station, with the new service allowing travellers to check-in for their flights using automated self service kiosks, prior to taking the train to Heathrow.

British Airways still open to tie up with Qantas
British Airways chief Willie Walsh has said that the airline could bring back plans for a tie-up with Australian national carrier Qantas, using the merger with Spanish airline Iberia as a template.
The Iberia model would allow Qantas to maintain a separate brand and home base, according to Walsh.

Second strike planned for Iberia
Spain’s national airline Iberia was forced to cancel flights yesterday and today as cabin crew have been planning to launch their second strike in under a month.
