Cologne is one of the oldest cities in Germany and is the fourth largest. Famous for its vibrant art scene, it has many museums and hundreds of galleries. It is situated on the mid west side of Germany has 10 million inhabitants with German being the native language. Cologne was completely destroyed in World War II and was rebuilt after mainly with simple and modest post-war buildings. Famous landmarks include Cologne Cathedral, Cologne University and Great St Martin Church. The City enjoys a moderate European climate with temperatures in the summer (Aug) reaching 22c and lows of 5c in the winter (Dec)
